June 4, 1944: Leonidas Witherall debuts on Mutual

June 4, 1944: Leonidas Witherall made its debut on the Mutual Broadcasting System. Walter Hampden played the title role of radio detective ‘Witherall’ who bore a resemblance to William Shakespeare.

The series, based on the Alice Tilton novels, ran for one year. The 30 minute dramas were produced by Richard Bower.
