September 24, 1942: The 'Moonlight Serenade' Faded Away

September 24, 1942: ‘Moonlight Serenade’ was presented for the last time by Glenn Miller on CBS. The Chesterfield Cigarettes sponsored show ran thrice a week.

"Moonlight Serenade" ended its run after three years on the airwaves of CBS Radio. The 15-minute radio series, which featured Glenn Miller and his band, the Glenn Miller Orchestra, was aired three times a week on a prime time slot. It was presented by Chesterfield cigarettes, hence the main title of the show, 'The Chesterfield Show'.
