May 31, 1943: 'Archie Andrews' debuted on Mutual

May 31, 1943: Archie Andrews debuted on the Mutual Broadcasting System for the first time, as a comic strip came to radio.

Archie Andrews was a teenage sitcom based on Bob Montana's popular comic strip of the same name. It was among the first radio shows to specifically target the teenage audience. Mutual even allowed these listeners to be on the studio while the show was being broadcast.
