June 12, 1955: American Weekend Radio Program made its first appearance on NBC. Bill Cullen, Ed McMahon, Hugh Downs, and Dave Garroway are among those celebrities who anchored the show.

The show was aired live and countrywide with a pleasant blend of comedy, sports, news and variety of entertainment stuff. It was transmitted live for 6 hours each Saturday till Sunday midnight. It is one of the last live transmitted radio shows.
